Post by f***@sbcglobal.netCongratulations on owning a "Yaesu"! now
your going to experiance the Service end
of Yaesu. In the small time of a few weeks
you will see why MANY have stopped
buying their crappo radios.
SO MANY have had failures (me included)
with their late model mobiles and handhelds.
If your lucky, you should be able to get the
unreliable piece of junk back in about a
month, so it can blow something else out
and make another return trip NOT
COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
My experience with Yaesu's service has been entirely different. Over the
last ten years, I've had three radios serviced or repaired. One was
purchased used in questionable condition, sent for an overall checkup. One
was simply serviced and tuned. And one was acting strange (random display
problems, changing frequencies, and so on). In each case, the service I
received was excellent.
With the last radio, when the repair tech couldn't find anything wrong, he
called me twice to discuss the situation. The first time to get more details
on the problem and the second to discuss my station setup. During the second
call, he let me listen as he made several contacts with the radio. Later, it
was decided my station ground was possibly insufficient (dry, rocky, soil).
After discussing several things I could do to improve the grounding, the
radio was returned with absolutely no charge. Improving the grounding did
indeed eventually solve the problem.
Post by f***@sbcglobal.netDon't believe me? Check out their "track
record" on www.eham.com and see
what many have to say about Yaesu's
"designed with a dollar sign in mind"
radios..
Out of the many, many, thousands of Yaesu radio owners, I'm certain you
could find some who have had problems with the service they've received. And
some of those, perhaps like yourself, are going to use every opportunity
they can find to rant about it. But, given the many satisfied Yaesu owners,
those incidents are hardly an indication of the overall quality of service.
I've seen nothing to clearly suggest Yaesu's service is below, or above,
average.
By the way, before you accuse me of being an apologist for Yaesu, let me
point out that I have no special loyalty to that company. While I do own two
Yaesu handhelds (my wife uses one and I use the other), my primary radio
today is a Kenwood.
